Adidas Superstar I

The Adidas Superstar I was the original in the Adidas Superstar collection. Adidas Superstar I is a basketball shoe that was released in 1969 by the Adidas company. It is low top version of the popular Adidas shoe, Pro Model basketball shoe.
The Adidas Superstar I has a rubber shell toe piece. The shoe also has a thin leather tongue without any additional padding on the inside of the tongue. The Adidas Superstar I was the first low top basketball shoe ever introduced that featured all leather upper and a rubber toe.
Because of all the protection that this shoe gives, it was a must have for most players in both the NCAA and NBA. The most recognized player at the time to wear the Adidas Superstar I is Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Seventy-five percent of NBA players were wearing the Adidas Superstar I within the first years of its introduction. This made the Adidas Superstar I popular in the 1970s.
The comfort and style of the Adidas Superstar I made it possible to not only wear it on the basketball court but also as just a street shoe. During the 1980s, many wearers of the Adidas Superstars started putting thick or fat laces that matched the colours of the three stripes on the shoe.
In 2005, Adidas made Superstars that represented different artists and music. It depicted icons of the era. These shoes have been worn by many popular artists. The Adidas Superstar I are worn on several video games such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. They have been worn on many music videos.
In 2007, the NBA editions of the Adidas Superstar I were introduced. The NBA editions are made with the colours of the given teams. For example, the Chicago Bulls Superstars are black with red and a bull emblem near the back of the shoe. The Cavaliers is all red even the stripes are red with Cavaliers written in black near the back.
With all the different colours to choose from, the Adidas Superstar I can be easily worn by anyone to show their personal style.
